A exposição articula procedimentos de apropriação, deslocamento e manipulação de imagens de imprensa, cinema e da pornografia, criando arquivos visuais que abordam as tensões entre o erotismo, o amor romântico e a violência. Patrícia Paixão investiga as relações entre esses campos com a representação do feminino na cultura contemporânea.

O nome da exposição é uma referência ao poema da brasileira Angélica Freitas “O útero é do tamanho de um punho”. “O poema é um clássico feminista e um dos poucos poemas a falar de aborto e de violência do corpo feminino. Nele, ela compara o útero a uma unidade de medida, mas também a um karma da corporeidade feminizada.

Commonly, landscapes are understood as geography and territory. Neyde Lantyer extends this concept inward, proposing that we carry internal landscapes, shaped by memory, language, literature, cinema, the arts, travel, exile, and other lived experience.

Drawing on the poem by Brazilian writer Angélica Freitas, in which she compares the uterus to a unit of measurement but also as a karma of feminized corporeality, we intend to highlight the ambivalences that permeate the experience of femininity still tied to the anatomical dimension, particularly its institutional limitations.
